Lázaro H. Cano, is a self-taught sculptor native of the city of Havana, Cuba.

This is the material he has chosen to create a work of great visual energy which attracted the lens of the great Cuban photographer Alberto Korda, who captured the totem-like creatures straight out of the young sculptor´s imagination into a photographic display that would later be shown at the Teatro Estudio de Cuba Gallery.

From this moment on, the international galleries opened their doors and Lázaro displayed his work at such places as Sant Gallen – Switzerland (“Estados de Ánimo” Personal Exhibit), Berlin (“Volver” Personal Exhibit – Buchandlung Hall, as part of the Tacheles Young Artist Project) and Málaga, Spain (Cropaní Palace Collective Expo) among others.

Today he lives and works in Spain where he continues his in-depth study of the duality and opposition in wood and metal, creating in this manner a contemporary art where the syncretic cults are the essence that taunts any attempt to define it.
